I first heard about The Teapot, a new play spot, in Downtown Phoenix, through one of my mommy Facebook groups and couldn’t wait to take my son to check it out. It’s a truly darling little place that’s the perfect place for parents and kids. It’s super casual, but oh so quaint at the same time. From the décor, to the comfy play areas inside, slide and play house outside, to the treats, coffees, and teas, it’s a great space for parents to relax, while allowing kids to freely romp within your view.
We met another momma for a recent afternoon play date at The Teapot, and first impressions upon arrival: cute, cute, and cute. The space is actually a beautifully renovated house in the historic Roosevelt neighborhood, with a nice-sized front lawn and wide front porch. There are a few chairs scattered about the lawn, just inviting you to take a seat or you can set up a picnic under the tree like we did.
I sampled the almond and orange scone, while my friend got the English scone (complete with jam and cream) and we both got the quiche for the boys. Everything was delicious as expected, and we all enjoyed that fresh cream and jam!
The Teapot’s backyard boosts several picnic tables and benches, under an arbor with strung lights. There were people sitting under the tree on blankets, and others at the tables. Our toddlers loved the play structure! There were several other kids playing there too — it was so sweet watching them all interact.
I can’t wait for our next visit back. If you’re looking for a go-to spot to grab a cup of coffee that your kid(s) will also enjoy, this is it!
Things to note:
- The Teapot is open Thursday through Sunday from 8am to 2pm.
- There’s a $2 per child “play ticket” charge. This goes towards helping maintain the playhouse and toy selection.
- For parking, there’s space on the street. However, that was pretty full when I got there around 12:30pm. The good news: there’s parking available in the lot off to the side of the house.
- There’s a small selection of light bites and a good variety of coffee and teas. Food wise, when we went there was a choice of scones, quiche, and a yummy-looking chocolate cake. However, the menu is always changing . There’s also a little fridge with applesauce pouches and chocolate milk for kids, as well as some other bottled teas and juices.
The Teapot is located at 818 N 5th Ave, Phoenix, Arizona 85003.
