Wow, to say yesterday was a rough day would be an understatement. Logan literally had a tantrum that lasted on and off for two hours. Twohours. And just as I was about to lose my sanity, he stopped and went back to his smiling, bouncing, happy self. Kids are funny…thank God for wine, err drinking is still a rare occasion these days because I’m nursing Rhy, so really my mom BFFs who lend an ear, shoulder, and hand when I need it.
You ladies keep me sane, and it helps that when I text about my tantrumming toddler, you text back, “We’re going through it too.” Because motherhood is freaking hard. Yes, it’s all of those lovey-sentimental-wonderful-happy moments too. But, there are also moments when you’ve got shit on your hand from wrestling your 17-month-old that doesn’t want his diaper changed or your 3-month-old can’t take a nap because her brother is screaming and won’t stop. Those moments are chaos, and mom friends help to bring a moment of calm to it all because having people that can relate make all the difference.
Below is my latest piece for Redbookmag.com on 10 times your mom tribe just get it.
1. When you just can’t get your house clean enough. Even if it looks clean, there’s a big chance that remnants of last night’s dinner can be found stuck to the floor.
2. When you realize the sad state your breasts are left in after breastfeeding. Hello from the other side, once perky boobs.
3. When your baby does all the cute and adorable things that completely melt your heart, but no one else would appreciate.
4. When you have a full-on breakdown after your toddler decides nothing in the fridge is worth eating, even though said foods were a favorite just yesterday.
5. When you realize what a luxury showering is. Same goes for going to the bathroom alone.
